WHO IS JESUS?

As summer comes to a close we are entering a season of change; school has begun and fall is right around the corner. Though the seasons change, there is one thing of which we can be assured never changes and that is the Word of God.  We will be looking at God's word in the book of Hebrews.  I will try and share each week the essence of the message I will be teaching on Sunday.

                                                   WHO IS JESUS?
Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the perfecter of our faith. Hebrews 12:2 (NIV)
1.  God speaks to us through Jesus
but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son,   Hebrews 1-2 (NIV)
For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. 2 Peter 1:21 (NIV)
2Jesus is the Heir of ALL THINGS
"whom he appointed heir of all things" Hebrews 1:2 (NIV)
 3.  Jesus is the Creator of ALL THINGS
"  and through whom also he made the universe"  Hebrews 1:2 (NIV)
For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.  He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.                  Colossians 1:16-17 (NIV)
Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. John 1:3 (NIV)
 4.  Jesus is the Radiance of God's Glory
The Son is the radiance of God's glory Hebrews 1:3a (NIV)
 5.  Jesus is the Exact Representation of His Father
the exact representation of his being, Hebrews 1:3b (NIV)
Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father"  John 14:9 (NIV)
 6.  Jesus is the Sustainer of the Universe.
sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at Hebrews 1:3
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.He was with God in the beginning.  Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.  In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.  The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:1-5 (NIV)
 7.  Jesus is the  Redeemer of Mankind.
he had provided purification for sins, Hebrews 1:3
For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. 1 Peter 1:18-19 (NIV)
 8.  Jesus is the ruler of the Universe.
he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. Hebrews 1:3
 9.  Jesus is Superior to the Angels.
So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs. Hebrews 1:4 (NIV)
